How it works
Weatherization is the holistic improvement and optimization of your home’s energy efficiency. Improve the comfort and energy efficiency of your entire home by sealing up air leaks and insulating your home. GMP will work with a qualified contractor to first do a home energy audit to evaluate where leaks and improvements can be made. After the home energy audit, we will work with you to select the best improvements to weatherize your home.
Save energy, cut costs
Don’t pay to heat and cool the outdoors. Keep that comfy air in your home where it belongs. These improvements typically include services such as: caulking around windows and doors, adding and upgrading insulation, and evaluating heating and cooling systems. The average home has a total number of air leaks equivalent to a two foot hole in the side of the home.
- $375 Average Yearly Heating Savings
- $2,500 Available rebates from Efficiency Vermont
General Product Information
The average home can expect to spend about $6,500 for a complete home weatherization project, or less for just the most cost effective improvements. We make it easy to get the benefits of home weatherization even if you don't have the upfront cash. We have partners offering low-interest loans that can be paid back as part of your monthly GMP bill.
Home Energy Audit
Several tests are performed to determine how efficient your home is and where improvements can be made. At the conclusion of the audit you will get an energy report detailing how your home uses (and loses!) energy. Your report will also prioritize improvements that can be made, detail costs, list available rebates, and outline ongoing savings.
Air sealing is a cost-effective way to get rid of those drafty leaks and cut heating/cooling costs, all while increasing comfort. It can be as simple as caulking and weather-stripping to inexpensively improve the comfort of your home and save money on your energy costs.
There are many types of insulation and lots of places to use it in your home. As part of a weatherization project a qualified contractor will let you know what's right to make your home cozy and save you money.
